Games Night

Games night last night was much better recieved by our new British friends, than Thanksgiving was.

Three teachers from Troë's school (Hannah, James, and Annette) came over to our flat last night for a few drinks and some games. Several more teachers were invited, but as our flat is ridiculously small, perhaps it's better that not everyone could make it.

We played Bohnanza first. We had introduced this game to Hannah last weekend when she was our sole Thanksgiving dinner guest, and she was eager to play it again - probably because she wanted to play something where she would have an edge over James and Annette. The game went alright, even though James and Annette were both pretty confused for most of it, and ended in an unpresidented four-way tie for first place. James lost.

Our guests all enjoyed Bohnanza, but next they wanted to play something a little different; so we played Settlers of Catan. Surprisingly (especailly since they had all been drinking), all three of them picked this game up really fast. They seemed to really like this game, especially Annette who kept saying how much she loved it - this might be beause she won the match, though.

All three of them seemed to enjoy themselves thouroughly, and James and Annette said they'd bring some more games over next time - maybe even "Risk".

Sounds like a fun night... I'm glad you are making friends and found some gamesters...What were those airfares again? Bryan couldn't believe it!

Weather still gorgous in Kelowna... up to 10 degrees again today... and all week!

Thanksgiving was great here, but we sure missed you. There are someChristmas things coming with Pete... have a good vacation with him... He is going to Paris first.

You got a bill from that cable company... we paid it...

Have a great week looking forward to next. Has school been better, or about the same? I worry about you cause I know what you're going through... don't let it spoil you for teaching. Love, Dad

games night sounds like fun. wish we could have one here (mind you I'd kick your behind). have you tried carcasone (sp?)) over there yet? You know how good I am at that!

Boring weekend so far, just housework and groceries. Am going to Kelly's tonight for a girls night (appies, wine and movies). Ralph is out of town. should be fun.

Pete came over to get your stash and is on his way tomorrow. wish I was going with him. It makes me really homesick for you, and am feeling a little blue with you guys so far away.

All here are well (people, cats and all).

only 1 more week and then vacation. Hope you have a super time. keep us posted with your travels so we can live vicariously through you both.
Love and hugs,
MMYT

The airfares for us to go to Spain at Christmas you mean? Well, it was £4 for the return flight plus airport tax. It ended up being just under £110 for all four of us. It should be really fun!

We played Carcasonne with John in Teignmouth back in August and got him hooked.

It can be a little complicated to learn at first, though, so we tried a few other games with Troë's work friends.
